Launched just 6 months ago in March, The Flickr Collection on Getty Images now boasts an impressive 44,000 photographs from Flickr members around the world.
A selection of photographs from the collection have been curated by the Getty Images team to create ‘The Art of Serendipity’ exhibition, which is now on show at the Getty Images Gallery in the heart of central London.
The exhibition is free and open to the public until October 1st. Check out the Getty Images Gallery website for opening times and directions.
If you can’t make it to the exhibition – don’t worry, the nice people at Getty Images have also set up a virtual exhibition in the form of this group pool where you’ll find many of the images from the exhibition.

Tropical Storm Ketsana, locally known as Ondoy, has raged across Luzon in the Philippines and has hit the capital region around Manila hard, displacing people and causing loss of life. The first 6 hours of the storm dumped a reported 34 cm (13.4 in) of rain, which is the usual rainfall for a full month and is causing epic flooding. Here are some tag and text searches to find more.

Step back into time to the Algiers of yore with a virtual postcard tour from the The Getty Research Institute in The Commons on Flickr. What’s so cool about these postcards is that they are featured in the Getty’s current exhibition, Walls of Algiers: Narratives of the City, but anyone with an internet connection can take the tour on Flickr since it’s in The Commons, maps and all. You can even visit the University that Albert Camus attended!

Right now there is a dust storm in Sydney turning the sky and everything under it red. Above are a few images from Flickr members. You can see more by doing a search for sydney dust and sorting by most recent. (Also, if you are in Sydney and see a giant sandworm, don’t move.)
