Von der Entladung atmosphärischer Elektrizität kann sich ein Blitz mit einer Geschwindigkeit von bis zu 220.000 km/h (140.000 mph) bewegen und eine Temperatur von bis zu 30.000 °C (54.000 °F) erreichen. Das ist heiß genug, um Quarzsand zum schmelzen zu bringen und daraus Glaskanäle, sogenannte Fulgurite, entstehen zu lassen. Jährlich gibt es weltweit ungefähr 16 Million Gewitterstürme."Wikipedia
