Recently, one of the great air shows took place at Duxford, UK: Flying Legends. The Flickr photography force was out there capturing many vintage and rare aircraft in a celebration of flight. Enjoy!
The exact origins of golf are unclear. Whatever prompted someone to spend hours hitting a little ball with some
kind of stick or club into a little hole located a great distance away obviously had lots of time on their hands.
And then again, whoever thought of cooking almost spoiled entrails and calling it “haggis” also had lots of time or
had a great sense of humor.
It’s a frustrating yet extremely satisfying game to play. For most less than amateur folks, it’s probably more the
former than the latter. So this leaves the consolation of just having plain fun while out on a course. Yes, it
can be enhanced by camaraderie and a bit of liquid confidence, but appreciating the overall beauty of your
surroundings can sometimes be breathtaking!
Cheers to the 136th The Open Championship.
Tate Liverpool is inviting Flickr members to contribute ‘single colour monochromes’ (aka photos of one colour) to create a wonderful, constantly changing colour chart on the Tate website. 36 of the images will be put together to make a glossy colour chart poster, which will be displayed at Tate Liverpool.
This project has been put together to coincide with their current exhibition ‘Colour Chart: reinventing colour, 1950 to today’ which focuses on the paint colour chart as a source of inspiration, which includes iconic works from Andy Warhol, Yves Klein, and Damien Hirst.
Want to know how you can take part? Just visit the Colour Chart Group and you’ll find lots of helpful info provided by the Tate team.
One of our resident staff surfers tipped me off to an amazing group of surf photos in the WaterHousing Surf Photography group. Cameras, in waterproof enclosures, catching fantastic action shots of surfers shooting through beautiful ocean water.
@flickr noticed that photos of Manhattanhenge are starting to flow in from last weekend. What’s Manhattanhenge?
a biannual occurrence in which the setting sun aligns with the east-west streets of Manhattan’s main street grid. The term is derived from Stonehenge, at which the sun aligns with the stones on the solstices. ~Wikipedia
