FlickrPoet, a new application from Thomas Sturm, is a search engine which will illustrate poems, prose, or song lyrics with Flickr images.
Every reload of the Show Story button fetches something new – a great way to find great photos and make new contacts. Click through to one of the images and you’re on a photo page where you can fave or comment.
Need more inspiration? Here’s a few more applications growing in the App Garden that can tell you a story.

We’ve noticed that the “Your Best Shot 2009” posts on FlickrBlog tend to lead to new contributions along that theme (think kittens, black & white, vanishing point, etc.). So, we were thinking about what we’d like to see more of and FlOps (Flickr Operations) requested more clowns. Really.

Hoorah! The Bergen Public Library, 2nd largest in Norway, joins The Commons on Flickr! Founded in 1872, Bergen Public Library is the main library and music department in the city center, six branch libraries and a mobile library. They also run the libraries in Bergen prison and Bjørgvin prison.
They begin their journey into The Commons with two collections, one for Edvard Grieg, the Norwegian composer from the Romantic period, and another for Ole Bull, the great Norwegian violinist. Their digital archives contain portraits of and sketches from these renowned musical talents.

Are you scattered all over the social internet, with accounts and friends on many sites? Finding it hard to keep up? Friendbinder, an application by Richard Cunningham that we found in the App Garden, can help! When you authorize Friendbinder, a web-based app, on your social networks, it fetches the most recent updates from your friends and puts it all right in front of you.

We love the Flickr integration a lot: when your contacts upload or favorite photos, it shows you a handful of them and beautifully displays them in a lightbox, with links to the photo pages so that you can comment and fave them. You can also see your photos and tweets on a map! The left sidebar surfaces activity directed at you, be that comments on your Flickr photos or @ replies from Twitter.

Got no time to scan what’s up with everyone everywhere, but want to catch up quickly with Flickr contacts? Then you’ll want to try Aaron Straup Cope’s Flickr for Busy People. It’s a simple web application that displays a list of your Flickr contacts who have uploaded photos in the last 30 minutes, two hours, four hours and eight hours.

What else is growing in the App Garden that can help you manage your contacts?
