Leibovitz (born October 2, 1949) reached stardom as the chief photographer of Rolling Stone magazine in the ’70s with her iconic portraits of celebrities, but that was only the beginning of her long-standing career. Since then, she’s built a prolific archive of work featured in retrospectives worldwide and best-selling books.
You’ll find her “master set” of 156 photos, a handpicked selection summing up her personal and professional photography over a 40-year span, at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio, through Dec. 30.
The Mid-Autumn Festival (also known as the Lunar Festival, Moon Festival, and Lantern Festival) was celebrated yesterday, Sept. 30, around the world. Here are a few photos from Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and NYC, where you’ll find Chinese traditions of lantern displays, dragon dances, and the munching of mooncakes.
