Concept Collaboration: “The Spiral”

Hello Flickr friends, photographers, and collaborators far and wide! What an incredible two months it has been for Concept Collaboration. We believe in a world changed through community and collaboration in the arts. Concept Collaboration provides this movement for collaboration and community, supported by Flickr, enabling global artistic collaboration for photographers around the world. We’ve seen an incredible amount of work created… 500+ photos to date in the Flickr group alone! Each submission has been nothing short of beautiful and thought-provoking.

Turbulent Daydreams

This month’s concept, “The Spiral,” was developed with the knowledge and awareness that the cycle of mundane routine can be broken. Human nature has a tendency for habit and stagnancy. It is when we break free from the sucking spiral of life and flip it upside-down that we are able to achieve dreams and inspire others.

As you view the images from February’s Concept Collaboration, we hope that you, too, are inspired to break free from the spiral of normal life, and launch yourself and those around you in to a new place of dream-achieving, goal-believing, and inspiration to change the world around you.

Here are some of our favorite images from awesome Collaborators and Flickr members from last month:

One of our favorite facets of Concept Collaboration is choosing the most promising photographer of the month to win a package of art-enabling prizes to unlock the potential in their creative pursuits. After being spiraled in to a world of 60 incredibly creative collaborations for “The Spiral,” we are happy to choose Sean Sandoval as our most Creative Collaborator of the month!

Steel Wool 4

His image, “Steel Wool 4,” took a different approach to the concept, but still excelled in capturing “The Spiral.” I can only imagine how much pre-planning went in to this image… it makes my head spin! This is a great image, and captures an incredibly spiral of light, creativity, and inspiration. Great job, Sean!

It’s amazing to see the ripple effect of this project. I’ve seen the camaraderie among photographers across the globe, accentuated by our physical meetups for collaboration. Here are some images by Collaborators Lisa Town, Elle Hanley, and Tarla Walton, created at our event in Seattle, WA, USA:
