Yay! The gates are open and welcome Flickr testers. We are now in what is considered our preview release 1 of public beta. We’ll be fixing bugs, monitoring scaling issues on the back end, and adding a few features before going into preview release 2. Then we’ll go into preview release 3 and then when that’s good to go the beta period will be officially over. We’re not taking bug reports right now while we work through our list of known bugs. But we appreciate all your comments and suggestions and are implementing a lot that have come directly from our users.

Three Ludicorp team members, Eric, Ben and Stewart, will be doing a presentation on Febuary 10 at ETcon, aka the Emerging Technology Conference, where they will be talking on the subject of Virtual Worlds, Distributed Interaction: Extending a MMOG with Remote Scripting, IM, Mobiles and REST. They will also be announcing the start of public beta for Flickr at ETCon, so be prepared for lots of new people.

Welcome GNE players! We’re happy you’re here. Have a look around and tell us what you think. There’s lots going on with Flickr at the moment! It’s in a state of constant flux, while we aim for a soft public launch at ETCon this year. The biggest change you’ll see in the next couple of days is the interface change. If you have any comments or suggestions, please post them to FlickrIdeas or FlickrDiscuss. Have fun!
