Flickr is taking to the streets again on June 8th and 9th, lighting up the Photoville Festival in Brooklyn, New York with a series of photowalks. And then in celebration of World Photography Day on August 19th, there will be another wave of photowalks around the world. Stay tuned for all the exciting details to come!

Photographers from eleven participating locations were prompted to capture the essence of the global celebration, emphasizing Flickr’s iconic blue and pink, and to upload their photos to Flickr using the #FlickrTurns20 tag. Below, you can see some of the fantastic scenes that our members captured during the photowalks:
Special shoutout to the ten photowalk attendees whose photos were selected by the Flickr team for “most effectively conveying the spirit of the birthday celebration,” as prompted in our Flickr Worldwide Photowalks group. These ten members will receive a prize package consisting of a free year of Flickr Pro and a free Flickr Print. Congratulations to all of the winners!
San Francisco Birthday Bash.
Following the celebratory photowalk along The Embarcadero in San Francisco, Frederick Van Johnson, host of This Week in Photo (TWiP), sat down during the afterparty at Pier 23 with Flickr President & COO Ben MacAskill, Flickr CEO Don MacAskill, and Head of Flickr Alex Seville to discuss the pivotal moments, challenges, and triumphs that have shaped the platform. They shared insider stories, personal insights, and a glimpse into the future of this iconic digital community. You can catch a glimpse of the interview here.
Attendees enjoyed mingling with the Flickr team, witnessing the live interview, indulging in food and drinks, greeting the famous Flickr panda, and obtaining exclusive anniversary swag, making the experience a one-of-a-kind celebration!
Thank you to our incredible, passionate, talented, and endlessly creative community for helping us make this amazing milestone truly one to remember. We can’t wait to see you this summer!
