Friends, Yahoo! Widget Engine 3.0 (AKA Konfabulator) is out the door. That’s good, because the Picture Frame widget is all Flickrized. Check it out running on my desktop:

That’s this photo from my pal Ranjit! I had it set to cycle through my contacts’ latest photos, but I could also choose my favorites (a great way to have all those old favorites show up ambiently), photos from a particular person, most recent from everyone, or all photos with a particular tag.

But wait, there’s more! I didn’t even notice this at first, but once you set it up to sign in with your Flickr account, you can drag photos or whole folders into the frame and then upload straight to Flickr. Slick:

Of course, the whole idea of Widgets is that anyone can make them. There are already other Flickr Widgets – this link should take you to the latest results from a search for ‘Flickr’. (But if you want to start playing with them, you’ll have to get the engine here first). And, oh yeah, there are other non Flickr-related Widgets as well :)
