Many branches of the U.S. Federal Government share their activities in photos on Flickr, and we’re always happy to see what they’re up to and what they offer. But on this day, a shutdown from Congress has furloughed 800,000 federal workers and closed hundreds of national parks, causing a nationwide disruption that’s been absent for 17 years. It’s an immensely impactful paralysis of governmental services and a massive financial setback for many Americans.
