Welcome the Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts to The Commons

Trinity College of Music personnel, 1920

We’re excited that the Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts joins The Commons today.

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is the UK’s only conservatoire of music and contemporary dance. The Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts supports the music faculty of the college and contains a small but important collection of special collections and archives. The majority of this collection relates to the former Trinity College of Music (founded in 1872), its staff and students. Other major collections include the papers and manuscript scores of Stanley Black OBE and the growing archive of jazz musicians Mike and Kate Westbrook. The collections are continually developing, mainly through gifts and bequests.

At present our Flickr account showcases historic photographs from the Trinity College of Music archive, including images of staff and students as well as shots of the college’s former premises on Mandeville Place in London’s Marylebone area.

You are invited to share your knowledge about this growing collection of photos, by commenting on the curated photos and adding meaningful tags. Here are some additional photos from the collection for you to dive in:
