On the way back from the colo, Stewart heard story on the radio about how PayPal has been going down on and off this week. On the radio! That’s a pretty big news story. And there’s even a Reuters news story about it. We’ve been using PayPal to sell our Special Beta Offer accounts, because so many people use it, and it is easy for both vendors and customers. But we saw a big decline in the number of pro account subs since late last week, and this must be why. Apologies to all of our customers out there who’ve been trying to use PayPal. We are planning on adding other means of payment. You can also pay by bank draft or money order.

The PayPal News Update Page has an amusing litany of exactly the same post, with slightly different wording each time: “We are aware that members may continue to experience intermittent errors…”; “Members may be experiencing intermittent errors while accessing the PayPal site” ; “Recently members have experienced intermittent errors while accessing the PayPal site”… are the last three.
