Questions for the Jury: Catherine Jamieson

Charlie Has Cool Eyes

We’re lucky to have Catherine Jamieson in our community. In addition to writing two books (Create Your Own Photo Blog and the soon to be published Digital Portrait Photography and Lighting), she’s den mother to Utata, and no slouch when it comes to taking photos.

Catherine, describe yourself in three words.

Often bewildered. Ocassionally befuddled. Usually bemused.

What one place, person or thing would you run off to photograph if you found the Golden Ticket?

The Atlantic/New England coastline.

What’s your "desert island" camera?

Canon 1V – I have a *thing* for that camera. Wouldn’t trade it for all the gummy bears in Candy Land.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by people’s need to communicate. It inspires me to listen and, in the case of flickr, to look. Being an engaged, active participant in enthusiastic human communication inspires me endlessly.

What’s the photograph that got away?

Oh! I don’t have an answer. It would be too much like a regret and I’m known to catalogue those badly. None got away, I tell you. I got them all! It’s a fairly good story and I think I’ll stick with it :)

Bonus question: Kitten, baby, sunset or flower?

Any good example of the above are good with me, but I have a soft spot for the kitties, I must say.

Thank you, Catherine. If you’re in the New York area on August 2nd, we hope that you can join us for The Blink of an Eye.
