The Cloyne and District Historical Society is the latest institution joining The Commons on Flickr. It is a not-for-profit charitable organization of volunteers located in the village of Cloyne in Eastern Ontario, Canada, dedicated to preserve and record the history of the local area and to share the knowledge with the public.
The CDHS’ albums here reflect settlement times in the 1850s with emphasis on pioneer life, mining, logging, tourism and building of the Addington Colonization Road. The Cloyne Pioneer Museum and Archives is operated by the CDHS and is located across from the Post Office in the village of Cloyne. The Museum and Archives is open mid-June to Labour Day, seven days a week, 10am to 4pm with free admission.
