We’re thrilled to announce that Flickr is the official photo partner for the 2014 Kelby Worldwide Photowalk (WWPW) and with your help, we’re going to set the Guinness Record for largest-single day of photowalks in the world on October 11th!
Kelby WWPW are already the biggest and most widespread single day of photowalks in the world (there were nearly 30,000 walkers in 2013) and this year we’re working them to certify the total as an official Guinness Record.
There are more than 10,000 walkers currently signed up and we want Flickreenos to join the event in droves. There are walks in most big cities around the world and many other locations, so you should easily find a photowalk near you.
If you are interested in leading a walk, you should sign up to become a walk leader by September 15th (be sure to mention that you’ve led walks with Flickr if you are experienced). As a bonus, all approved walk leaders will get a free 1-year subscription to KelbyOne, which features more than 10,000 educational videos to improve your photography (regularly priced at US$250/year).
Kelby WWPW are a bit different than the regular Flickr walks. Every walk has a walk leader and is limited to 50 members, so many cities will have multiple walks. Each walk leader will pick the best photo from the 50 members (winner receives a free year of KelbyOne) and the winning photo will be entered into the worldwide contest, judged by Scott himself. There are a ton of great prizes and really fun opportunities to meet new photographers along the way.
After you have signed up for a walk, be sure to also join the Kelby WWPW group on Flickr. We encourage you to upload all the photos you want from the October 11th event and start socializing with other Flickr members there.
October 11th is going to be a fantastic day to get out and take a photo walk. We hope you’ll join us!
