Born and raised in Hampton Roads, Virginia, Aeysa Nixon-Bright grew up watching family moments get preserved through a grandfather’s camcorder and a stepmother’s film camera – an early lesson in the power of the image. That foundation shaped the storytelling instincts she brings to her work today.

A blanket of bright orange covers the grasslands near Lancaster, California, during May and April. Thousands of spectators annually come to see this seasonal display of California’s official state flower in the 1,781-acres of protected land called the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.
When we first came across photography by Kaija Straumanis, we couldn’t help but scratch our heads in wonder. “Who, what, how, and ouch” were popular reactions among our team. We later learned that we weren’t alone. Nearly 3 million people had similar responses — making Kaija’s photography a viral sensation.

A staff member of the H.R. Giger museum, told AP that the artist H.R. Giger has died. Born in 1940, he was a pioneer in bringing us a nightmarish vision of the macabre world. His most notable work appears in “Aliens” and “Dune” sci-fi movie classics that catapulted his status into stardom. In his museum and bar at Gruyeres, Switzerland, his oeuvre is in full display.
