New bits!
Well, it’s been about a week since our last deploy. Aside from the requisite cool feature side of things, we’ve been doing a ton of work on improving how your photos are queued up to be processed once you’ve uploaded them.
Anyhoo… back to the good stuff! Here’s a summary of what’s new for you in the deploy we’ve just done:
- We’re so happy about this one – Now, you can edit your photo without going to an edit form. When you’re looking at a photo page that’s yours, you should see the title and description highlight when you move your mouse over them on a photo you own. Just edit right there, and save! Yay! (We’ve got more plans to allow in-page editing on some other pages too.)
- If you have lots of contacts, you can drill down into the page that shows your contacts, so all you see is photos from your friends and family. There’s a separate RSS feed and slideshow for that feed too
- We’ve added The Mega Footer, which is a bunch of handy links to pages you probably use quite a bit
- Feeling generous? You can sponsor other Flickr members, even if you don’t like their photos! On a person’s photo page, there’s a new link under their name that takes you to the order form. (This link shows up if the person doesn’t have a paid pro account already.)
- You can make a buddy icon from a photo in your photostream
- People have told us that they want control over who can download their original photo files. So, we’ve added an element to overall photo privacy where you can set who is able to download your original photo
- Not interested in Everyone’s Photos? You can choose whether you’d like to see the most recent ones on your home page. (There’s a show/hide switch next to the big link for you.)
And we’ve fixed a few buggy bits, like:
- Now there’s an inconspicuous link on your home page – “Clear NEW indicators” – this allows you to clear out all those yellow NEW thingies when things aren’t so new anymore. You can do this at anytime.
- RSS Feeds display medium-sized photos again
Whew!
