Today is World Photography Day 2013. Started in 2009 by Australian Photographer Korske Ara, the World Photography Day project unites thousands of photographers from more than 150 countries around the globe. Korske says he believes that "photography has the power to tell stories, inspire generations and initiate change in the world."
Take a shot today and become part of World Photography Day 2013 by joining the official World Photography Day group on Flickr and sharing your photo with other Flickr members, by submitting your photo to the project on the WPD website, and by getting involved further – it can be an outing of fellow photographers in your area or as simple as reading a photography book.
Whether you capture memories with your phone, point-and-shoot or SLR, World Photography Day is about appreciating photography and the unique influence it has on our daily lives.
Don’t forget to tag your contributions "world photography day" to make it easier to find them. We will feature a selection of your submissions later this week.
