Hey, Flickr members! Happy New Year! Here’s some of what the Flickr team worked on in December 2022.
What’s New
Searching on the Flickr App with SafeSearch
SafeSearch has been updated on the Flickr Apps (iOS and Android) across all versions to include search term word filters. This means that when a user who has SafeSearch set to On searches for Bad Words they will find no results (or only their own results) whether they are searching for Photos, People, or Groups. Users with SafeSearch set to Moderate or Off are not affected.
The list of bad words that will be affecting results is long, but generally includes words that are more likely to include unmoderated content or that have a tendency to bring unsafe results.
We’re enhancing this feature to increase trust and safety within the Apps and to act in compliance with Apple’s policies.
