This month we are happy to announce that improved searching capabilities, such as advanced filters, are now available with our most recent iOS app update, v4.17.10, and Android app update, v4.17.10.

These new updates will help provide Flickr members with more enhanced searching capabilities on the mobile apps that better mirror those search options previously only available through the web platform.

Searching Groups

With this update, you’ll find improvements to the Group search results page. You now have the option to sort results by activity, relevance, size, etc. and to hide inactive groups right on the app!  We have also enhanced group search results by including information such as member and photo counts for easy visual reference.

Advanced Search

We have added advanced search filters to our mobile apps through these recent updates as well. Some of those advanced search options include the ability to filter photo search results by date, license type, photo color and photo orientation. Visit the Flickr Help Center for more information on how to easily access this feature.

People You Follow

We’ve also added a People You Follow section to the search results page. This can be found under the Your Photos section, to help you locate photo search results specifically from your favorite photographers, before diving into the larger section of top public photos on Flickr.

More search improvements, such as suggested related search terms, are in the works, so stay tuned for more updates!

In the meantime, download the latest Flickr app for iOS, available in the App Store or for Android, available in the Google Play store today! The Android update is progressive so If you aren’t seeing that update as available quite yet, keep an eye out because it is on its way!
