With over 14 million images in their collection, the Nationaal Archief is the largest public archive in the Netherlands, and we’re thrilled to have them join The Commons on Flickr today.

Their archivists have selected about 400 photos from a range of topics for you to see, including the Arbeids inspectie (Labour Inspectorate Collection), a number of fascinating studies of working conditions in various companies during the early years of the 20th century…

…Documentary of the 1928 Olympische Spelen (Olympic Games), held in Amsterdam…

 

…And some incredible imagery of life in Tweede Wereldoorlog (Second World War)…

 

You might also notice that some of the collection is of individual pages from albums, complete with notations in Dutch. It would be interesting to see if there are any transcribers in our midst… it’s been great to see multilingual contributions from you on most all of the other Commons members’ content!
