It’s finally here: your chance to join our journey with The Conservation Alliance, Rivian, and Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project! In this film we share the stories of tribal leaders, conservation non-profits, politicians, and business leaders advocating for the protection of 3 million acres of public lands in their own backyards.

These stories underscore the importance of national monuments for the environment, preserving cultural heritage, the local economy, and the future experiences of generations to come. So what are you waiting for? Watch it now!

Buckle up for the Mobilizing for Monuments Road Trip

At Flickr, we’re committed to building a better world through the power of photography. Mobilizing for Monuments is dedicated to the protection and preservation of our public lands for the collective benefit of all. So, naturally, we were a perfect fit for the project: photography can play a powerful role in preservation, showcasing the unparalleled beauty of some of the most precious–and often, most vulnerable–places on earth.

We imagine a world where the beauty and profound significance of these landscapes are not only preserved but also shared, celebrated, and shielded through the impact of photography. That’s why we packed up and hit the road with other passionate conservationists for the Mobilizing For Monuments Road Trip.

This transformative journey, which took place from November 7-13, 2023, allowed us to document the voices and stories of local community members, tribal leaders, conservation non-profits, politicians, and business leaders advocating for the protection of public lands.

The film that came from this journey takes you on a visual adventure through five recently-designated or proposed national monuments in the western United States:

  • Proposed Dolores River Canyon Country National Monument and National Conservation Area in Colorado
  • Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni-Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument in Arizona
  • Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in Nevada
  • Proposed Chuckwalla National Monument in California
  • Proposed expansion of San Gabriel Mountains National Monument in California

Every place has its own story, its own people, and its own impact on the community and the nation. Take a few minutes, watch the film, get inspired, and let that inspiration fire you up to preserve and nurture our public lands. You can watch on the Mobilizing for Monuments website, and if you want to know more about Mobilizing for Monuments and how you can get involved, check out the press release.

Thank you for being part of the Flickr community and for your continued support of conservation efforts.
