Nature’s dancing lights

Over 2,000 species of the beetle family Lampyridae (aka fireflies) are known for their unique ability to illuminate via bioluminescence. The males use this behavior to attract mates in flight, creating a courtship of light streaks captured in long-exposure photography.

A simple search for landscapes provides a nice batch of luxuriant vegetation across the globe. We glanced at some of the trending photography from it and a particular destination stood out with outstanding luscious greens: Olympic National Forest in Washington, U.S.

Portraits invade the Pantheon

In JR’s latest endeavor, the Pantheon opened this month with his “Au Panthéon!” project. It showcases thousands of portraits taken in March of this year from a photo-booth truck, which made its way to multiple nations. The portraits are arranged in mosaics on ornate ceilings, floors, and exterior of the famous monument.

Catalonia’s spectacular gorge

In Catalonia, Spain, the River Noguera Ribagorçana passes through the Serra del Montsec mountain system, creating a beautiful hiking destination called Congost de Mont-Rebei. The gorge features 1640-foot walls of limestone with embedded pathways for visitors to take in the gorgeous scenic views.
